THE MACALLAN FIFTIES - TRAVEL SERIES

 

During the 1950's, Spanish oak sherry cask became available again following the disruption of the Second World War, allowing THE MACALLAN to revert to using only first and second fill cask.

This resulted in a whisky that was as rich and spicy as modern day MACALLAN, but with a hint of peat smoke.

 

To recreate the style of the macallan in the 1950,s, our Master Distiller has sampled bottles of the Macallan from that decade and matched their aroma and flavour with more recent distillations taken from the cask maturing in our warehouse.

 

Nosing and tasting notes from David Robertson, the Macallan Master Distiller:

 

Colour: Deep mahogany.

 

Nose: Rich resinous dried fruits, spiced ginger and cloves with good wood. Subtle toffee sweetness and rich citrus aromas with a hint of peat smoke.

 

Taste: Rich aged Macallan with strong sherry, resinous, spice, dried fruits, and a touch of nuttiness, toffee and wood. Finish:Rich and spicy with a touch of smoke.

 

Capacity: 500 Ml.

Alcohol: 40 % Vol.
